How Green I Remember

For several years, I nurtured and cherished a garden in a small village in the Austrian Weinviertel, close to Vienna. It was mine only inasmuch as I was its, as we joined our green limbs and flowed together through the days. Sadly, a number of circumstances led to the garden’s disappearance, so that now it is no longer blooming, sprouting, living, being.

This publication now holds what remains of the garden: It is a reminder of passage, time, light, color, motion, and everything bright and deep that comes of a life shared with plants. I remember it still and hope to remember it in times to come.
